MOKOTO

"MOKOTO," a dynamic all-girl indie rock band straight out of the sun-soaked streets of LA, California, is a force to be reckoned with. The band's lead singer, a fiery spirit inspired by her grandmother's life, has been crafting powerful music since her childhood. Her lyrics serve as a bridge, connecting her to her Japanese heritage passed down by her beloved grandma. Their debut album is not just an album, it's an emotionally charged love letter to her grandmother. The album's design reflects the vivid tapestry of Mo's life, blending the iconic Hollywood sign with the serene landscapes of Japan. My aim was to give the album an intimate, handwritten touch. The typography is a direct scan from a crumpled piece of paper I wrote on, complete with all its authentic imperfections and creases. For their second album, I dared to push the boundaries. I wanted "MOKOTO" to evolve, to be bolder and more mature. Enter a splash of electric orange. We see the repeated use of the "MOKOTO" font, reminiscent of the Hollywood billboard.
